Mouth Occasionally Dry, Problem With Breath. Listerine Making It More Dry. Cause And Cure?

I'm not sure who to ask about this, but for the past couple of years, my mouth started getting occasionally dry (especially when I sleep) and I'm having problem with my breath (especially after I eat or drink certain things) When I use things like Lysterine, it just seems to dry my mouth out MORE and make it worse ... what could cause this? Is there anything I can do? I hate having problems with my breath, and keeping mints around all the time is difficult. I brush twice a day, and use rinses occasionally. Any advice?

Hi...
Welcome to HCM..
Plaques on the teeth also can cause bad breath..
Consult a dentist and get scaling of the teeth done..
They can see and tell you if there are any other problems with teeth..
Dryness of mouth may not be due to a teeth problem..
If you have a severe dry mouth and if it is associated with dry eyes it can be an autoimmune disease which needs proper evaluation..
Rinse your mouth thoroughly after eating something and take water before going to bed to avoid dry mouth at nights..
Any infection in the mouth and throat also cause bad breath.. Hence if dentist finds no significant reason consult one ENT specialist who may give an antibiotic course to take care of the infection if any..
Hope I helped with my answer..Take care..
