Missing Heartbeat And Collapsed Gestational Sac In The Pregnancy Scan. What Is Happening?

2 weeks ago I had an ultrasound and it was perfectly healthy heartbeat and everything. Than 2 days ago I had a follow up ultrasound and the heart beat could not be found. And the doctor said my gestational sac looked as if it was collapsing. What happened? Im very close to being 17. Im 5'6". And 121 lbs. I havent had a medical history. Ive been great.

Thanks for posting your query.

From the information you have provided, it appears that the baby's heart beat has stopped.
You can get another scan from a different centre/doctor before we conclude for sure even though its unlikely to change.

If heart beat was seen 2 weeks ago, you would have been atleast 6 weeks then.
I would like to know the reason for the follow up scan, were you have any bleeding?or cramps?

In any case, it looks like the pregnancy is not going well. You can have a second scan to confirm.
Your doctor will discuss the options after that.

15% of all pregnancies end in a miscarriage due to intrinsic problems in the baby.
If this is your first pregnancy, then 95% of times the next pregnancy will go on well.
There is nothing you have done or not done to cause this situation. So do not blame your self.
Its advisable to give yourself 2-3 months before trying for the next pregnancy. Keep continuing folic acid.

Hope this helps,
All the best.Take care.
