Metatarsal Nondisplace Oblique Fracture Next To Little Toe. Diagnosed With Osteopenia. Cure?
may 29, 2013, #5metatarsal nondisplace oblique fracture at head (distal) next to little toe. NWB boot x weeks with occasional accidental WB. June NWB xray - displaced - continue NWB. August xray - WB xray - displaced about 1/4 inch or slightly more... 0000IU weekly vit D x one month. Sept. 5 - WB xray - same with thick band of scar tissue - go home d/c boot, WB, try to live life... daughter's wedding next week. come back one month - will know if cannot live - then sx... prognosis - 85% recovery... I am 58 year old five foot tall female - 110 pounds - very small boned with osteopenia - not ostoporosis... eating tons of calcium rich food... was very active - spin class, weights, gym every day... no pain - but swelling since d/c boot... scared.... will i ever get my life back - my foot back?

There is absolutely nothing to worry about your 5 metatarsal fracture as they inevitably unite though they are displaced. May be the time it takes to unite may get prolonged, if it is properly not immobilized.
A certain amount of swelling will persist in the foot till the fracture unites completely and is not a matter of concern.
Keep continuing taking diet rich in calcium and oral supplements, the rest assured, your fracture will unite.
