Hi and thanks so much for this query. I am so sorry to hear about these symptoms that your father is reporting. I am also sorry about the demise of your mother. I understand how difficult it is to loss a loved one. These symptoms are suggestive of depression. But given the fact that he just lost his wife, they may represent grief more than depression. However, if they should prevent him from functioning normally, he would need to treated as depressive symptoms. This consist in drugs and also motivating him and making him to have enough reasons to feel some what positive about life despite the great loss.
