Knees Making A Squishing Sound, Pain Under Knee Caps. Swelling & Stiffness In Knee Joints. Cure For Symptoms?
My knees make a squishing sound when I squat. I am also experiencing severe pain under my knee caps, almost like an ice pick has been stuck in on the outside of cap and the feel of a foreign object under knee cap. I also have frequent swelling and stiffness in knee joints. When the stiffness hits, it extends all the way down to my ankles. This has been going on for several years and is getting progressively worse.
It is very important to get a careful evaluation. This sounds like and inflammatory process. The degree of inflammation has to be ascertained to know whether this is a rheumatologic disease or other. An X ray of the knee is very important. This could give an idea of degenerative bone disease or not. Erythrocyte sedimentation rate, CrP shall be needed to ascertain the degree of inflammation. Testing for Rheumatoid factor could be needed to exclude theumatoid arthritis. Serum Uric acid levels are needed to know if this could be gouty attack or not. I suggest you consult your primary care physician for a proper clinical evaluation. Thanks and best regards, Bain LE, MD.
