Itchy Red Spot On Inner Labia Wall, Rash On Inner Thigh. Bacterial Vaginosis?

i have a itchy red spot on inner labia wall and which seems to be more itchy when there s heat. I ve also had a rash develop on inner thigh area, the color is whitish, silvery in color, doctor has prescribed creams but to no relief, recently recieved swab and was diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis , completed 7 days of metonidazole, still itchy red spot. read about lichen planus? please help!

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.
As per your history, biopsy is conclusive of bacterial vaginosis. So you need to take anti-bacterial one more shot as symptoms are still not relieved.
You can consult dermatologist to make sure lesion is not lichen planus. Treatment line differs completely. Steroids are used for lichen planus which might increase bacterial vaginosis intensity.
Confirmation of lichen planus is done by biopsy only so do consider dermatological opinion before going for blind treatment.
