Itchiness And Numbness In Hands, Ears. Family History Of Diabetes. Any Suggestion?

Okay well i'm not sure who to ask but i've recently been feeling itchiness and numbness in my hands. At first I thought it was some reaction from marijuana but I have been smoking for atleast 2 years now so I thought it would of been strange to start then. The only reason why I felt it was that was because that was when I started to feel these symptoms. Then I found it strange to feel this symptom when I clearly wasn't under the influence. As I am typing this my hands are itchy and rather numb. It has moved a bit to other parts of my skin like part of my ears. I looked on the computer somewhere and some place said diabetes but this kind of scared me. I don't think i'm in terrible shape. I am kind of chubby. Male about 180 something pounds. I mean thats not great but I don't feel too unhealthy. My dad has diabetes so is it passed down? I just want to know what this may be. I hope it is'isn't anything serious

Hello dear,

The symptoms as mentioned in your post can be attributed to Neuropathy (damage to the nerves).
Given that your Dad has Diabetes (which can be passed down) & you smoke, these can act as risk factors for the same.
An estimation of the blood glucose level & nerve conduction studies will be helpful in clinching the diagnosis.

Symptomatic relief can be obtained by intake of nervigenic agents (like Vitamin B6, Vitamin B 12, Folic acid) as well as multivitamin & multimineral supplements including iron, calcium & Vitamin D needs to be added in diet to help in blood formation & nerve conduction.
Avoid smoking & alcohol consumption.

There is no need to worry, you will be fine.
Till then, maintain adequate hydration & proper nutrition status, exercise regularly and avoid stress.

Wishing you a Good Health.
Take care.
