I m a first time mom. I m having a five months old girl baby. Her s birth weight is 2.75 kg. But within one month she had reduced by 2.1 kg because of low supply milk. I didn t know that. After i have consulted with a Pediatrician. Now she is in 4.30 kg. Doctor advised to give Trifer drop to her. Shall i give to her? Is there any problem in it. Please kindly reply me....

Hello,
Welcome to HCM,

Trifer drop is a iron hydroxide polymaltose Complex.Iron is necessary for the production of hemoglobin.

Iron-deficiency can lead to decreased production of hemoglobin and a microcytic, hypochromic anemia and it may leads to malnutrition also.

This very much essential for the growing infant, continue this until your doctor ask you to stop. Your doctor will check for the iron profile of your child and then he decides to continue or stop.

As of now you keep on giving your child, along with this continue the breast feeding and also the milk substituents advised by your paediatrician.
Thank you.
