Hi , my grand mom has ESR 55 and she is 73 years old . She has constant fluctuation of fever 99 to 100. She has done her other tests like platelet count etc , which are ok . She is diabetic also. Can you please specify the reason for fever . Due to her age she cannot exercise . Her blood sugar level was 140 when last checked.
There are many possible causes of an elevated ESR. ESR is a non specific marker. A specific cause cannot be determined based on ESR alone.Generally it is followed up with other tests to diagnose medical condition. High ESR also indicates that person is having some infection in the body. ESR will come down with control of infection. Hope I have answered your question.
