i was diagnosed with widal test positive with h and o antigen 1:160. m doctor gave me ciflox,Pmc. now after 2 weeks of medication my titer shows normal. am i cured cause tyohoid takes 5-6 months to cure, will it re occur. i feel healthy now a days, what are your suggestions.

Hi, Widal test with your titre suggests infection and after treatment if it has come to normal, it means it is cured. Typhoid is a bacterial infection and can be seen in carrier state too. If you think you are a possible carrier, try to get a stool culture done. If stool examination is negative, we can assume you cannot be in carrier state also. Typhoid does not take 5-6 months of therapy. A routine therapy is adequate unless we are looking at a carrier state, in which condition cholecystectomy of gall bladder removal is advised.
