I have shingles without the rash. this is my third time with them but this time no rash. I am in my third day on medication. Should I stay away from my 7 month old grandson and my newly pregnant daughter completely for 15 days? If I do not have a rash am I still contagious??
Hello, Welcome to healthcare magic. Shingles (herpes zoster) is not a contagious disease. However, there is a theoretical chance of a non- immune person developing chicken pox if exposed to a person with zoster. This is very rare. I do not see a reason for you to worry. However, shingles is usually a 1 time episode. If a person gets zoster once, it does not recur. I would definitely suggest you to get the diagnosis re confirmed. Hope this helps you. Take care.
