Is rapid heartbeat bad ?

ever since ive been little, my heart has always beat fast, i know cause whenever i ve been to the doctor and they check my pulse, its been faster than i guess average, but they never did anything about it because they always said it was because i was scared of doctors. then about a year or 2 ago, i was at the hospital because i had symptoms of anemia or pneumonia, not sure, but i was throwing up, had a fever, and a lot of other things, bad cough, but at the end they wanted to keep me because of my heart. it was EXTREMELy fast. i was scared, cause my mom was not with me, and i thought i was going to die or something. they called in an expert on hearts, and they put stuff all over my chest to see if it was okay. at the end they let me go because i was crying and that was causing it to go faster, so they let me come home, but they told me if anything to call 911 asap. i never found out what were the results. im 17 years old now, and i know i have anxiety problems. everytime i run i feel my heart is going to jump out. so i do not run anymore. scary movies also make my heart beat extremely fast. sometimes i feel like if my heart misses a beat, and it feels so weird it scares me A LOT. it happens rarely though. started noticing like 3 years ago. i dont know, im scared something could be wrong, but i dont want anything to be wrong. and my anxiety makes me think worse, caffeine makes my chest feel weird also, and i feel sick. and scared. i dont know could something be really wrong with me or what? please dont scare me :(

first of all, i don't think you have any heart problem. the signs of heart problem are rarely faster heart beat!! I am a medical student and had anxiety myself, now am older and healthy. I laugh when i remeber that. I felt exactly are feeling....i would dial the 911 thinking i was going to have a heart attack, or brain cancer,, generally i felt something was wrong...i was scared of doctors, reading about the heart problems, ....so many things!I even lost track of reality..felt confused, etc eventually, i realized two years had passed and i wasn't dead yet, and I did not have any heart attack, so I saw a doctor!after an ECG, EEG. he told me i had anxiety! After couselling and some drugs it was completely gone. anxiety is a common problem, your heart paces when you get scared or anxious. this an adrenaline rush, usually, this is not bad but it can make you really uncomfortable....and affect how you eat, your social life, which sucks! but dont worry about it much, it's not dangerous, unless you have high blood pressure or other complications already. by the way, most people with anxiety tend to feel as if they are having heart attacks, lack of breath, feel pain in the chest and ribs, faint, heart pacing, or sometimes they listen to the heart and think its gonna stop....this is just adrenaline effect. sometimes people with aniety feel as though the heart has really stopped beating and they slowly dying, mixed with the faint feeling.....this can scare the hell out you! the truth is there absolutely nothing wrong with the heart, infact the heart is doing it's job when it goes faster during the anxiety....meaning it's healthy- eventually it goes back to normal when you relax!! anxiety is caused by chemical imbalace in your body, which is easily treated. please see a doctor soon, don't be scared at all.....I assume you are young!!! most young people DO NOT have heart problems....if you had a heart problem, trust me....everyone would know. this is because heart problems have severe symptoms!! exercising also makes your heart pace faster, which is normal, now when you have the anxiety....you feel as if the heart is running out of the chest. do not get scared, your body is made such that it will counteract this. Just have a sit and relax for a while until you feel better. caffeine stimulates your body, makes you alert. it is thus not good to take caffeine, because you can't really relax. one more thing, adrenaline is more during the times , approxiamtely 10pm at night to 10am in the morning(when you are about to sleep and after you wake up) this is normal.therefore people often feel anxious in the evening or in the morning. stress can also increase anxiety. stress can be managed by drugs, but you very young. When you get older stress goes away....in most cases. That's it, so see a doctor and get to your fitness soon, I HOPE THAT I DIDN'T SCARE YOU. take care buddy!

the couple of days i have just been so hungry. i wake up at 6 every morning. growing up i was never a breakfast person, but i think that my body is trying to tell me to eat more in the morning. the thing is, if i dont eat, i get really bad hunger pains, they make me so nauseous. but the last few days when ive felt hungry and eat something, i am still hungry. really hungry. my body still feels my hunger pains. its not until i stuff myself that i feel some sort of relief , but i have also been getting a dull headache that kind of makes me queezy to focus on on bjects or read. i never really feel like i am going to throw up, it kinds of feels sometimes like butterflies in my stomach, but without the rapid heartbeat like with anxiety . i dont know!!! i feel crummy. any ideas???

Hello Dr, 41 year old, non-smoker, 1-5 units of alcohol a week, active, no other health issues. Family history of heart problems (Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy ), have been checked and do not have it, although have a slight thickening of arterial knuckle which gets monitored. I m getting what feels like pulses or faint flutters from my oesophagus region to the top of my sternum region, these symptoms are infrequent during the day to sometimes non-existent, but at night the symptoms only occur when laid on my back or on my left side (they disappear when I m lying on my right side?) and feel more constant with a heart beat ie pulses at a constant rate. Occasionally have slight breathlessness since this has started 1 week ago. Now I ve had a slight upset stomach (although not constipated I ve not been regular) the last week and the symptoms do seem to be more present when I have heavy feeling in my stomach and then subside once I pass wind. Is the pulses/flutter linked to this and could be a blockage and wind not escaping? Or something else?

My husband's heart is beating loudly and seems to be beating irregularly. I took his blood pressure and it was normal. His heart rate was 102bpm. He also has an urge to cough periodically. He's had these episodes happen before and the cough has helped at times. Do we need to be concerned? His father died from heart disease and started having an irregular heart beat when he was 35.
