Is Pain In Abdomen And Vagina After Medical Abortion Normal?
Hi, My fiancee had medical abortion on Feb 15th. two weeks after the abortion she went to clinic and the test showed that she is not pregnant anymore. The clinic asked her to have a vaginal ultrasound but since we are restricted religious we can't do that. She still feels pain in abdominal area, vagina and wrist. Is that normal ? Or can we have her do the abdominal ultrasound to show if anything has remained?
Hello dear Understand your concern Pain in abdomen and vagina after two week of abortion is not normal. Pain may remain for maximum up to 7 days after abortion. Following are the cause of abdominal pain after abortion: incomplete abortion/retain product, infection or ovarian dysfunction. As USg is full proof for retain product. You should have to go for USG to confirm retain product. If it is there can be treated by misoprostol or by D & C. Infections required antibiotic course. So please consult the gynecologist for USG. Meanwhile you can take rest and analgesic tablet. Hope this may help you Best regards Dr. Sagar
