Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 81 years old male.Due to heart condition I take blood thinner to control the PT/INR value of blood within 2 to 2.5. My friends tell me that sexula activity will keep the prostrate and urinary bladder healthy. But due to medication I am not having proper erection. My wife, who is 71 years old is not interested either in sexual intercourse, for she had both her breasts removed , one due to cancer and the other due to infection long time back. Nowadays I get an urge to masterbate and there is proper flow of semen though in small quantity. I would like to know if it is good or harmful to me in old age.
Hi, Looking at your history and medications - I don't find any reason, not to masturbate. Your heart condition should not be a problem, as compared to sex, the heart load, will be very less. However, the reasons of keeping prostate and urinary bladder is untrue. It is not harmful at this age. Any further queries, happy to help again.
