Is Liver Cancer, Related With Burning Gall Bladder?

I am having symptoms as if my gallbladder was still in - burning especially middle of night. I assume maybe because of the prone position. My alkaline Phosphatatis?? is at 205 and am told normal if 50-136.Now a gama test shows at 68. I am not a drinker. I am scheduled for a ultrasound on Friday. Could this be a bile duct issue or could it be liver cancer with these levels? Thanks.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can. Cancer of liver or biliary duct is rare and serious but the last thing to think of. It is possible, but most common causes of elevated alkaline phospatase are stones in common bile duct or pancreatitis.

So you need to do CT biligraphy or ERCP to verify what is going on and there it can be treated. Usually if there is no jaundice then there is no fear of cancer but it should be evaluated definitely.

Hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us anytime.

Wish you good health.

Kind regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein
