Is It Unsafe To Avoid Premarin And Osphena For The Post Menopausal Condition?

My ob/gyn has prescribed Premarin for post menopausal dryness & vaginal wall thinning. My family doctor prescribed Osphena since I did not like the idea of the Premarin. The hot flashes caused by the Osphena are too much and I have stopped both. What happens if I don t take anything? Intercourse dryness is not in the picture, so why do I need this? I was having no menopause symptoms such as hot flashes prior to taking these medications.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello,

Since there are no symptoms it can be avoided as they have a limited role in the treatment of symptoms rather than anything else. In case there are cardiac issues they can be helped with hormone replacement therapy as a bonus to menopausal symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ashok Kumar, Psychiatrist
