Hi doc, I had a miscarriage and undergone a D&C 6 months back. In a recent visit, my doc asked me to take ecosprin 75 for 6 months. she told that I could continue the medicine during pregnancy too in case i conceive in between. Please let me know, Is it safe to use ecosprine for a long duration like 6 months? and what is the use of this medicine?

Hello
Ecosprin or aspirin prescribed for 6 months after miscarriage so that all remains passes from uterus , because of anti coagulant effects of aspirin.
Ecosprin 75 mg / day is usually a safe drug and don't produces any side effect within six months .
But once you conceive ( get pregnancy ) in my opinion you should not take this medicine until and unless strongly recommended for emergency .
Studies show ( cims 2013 -2014 annual edition) that should be taken a SPECIAL PRECAUTION in pregnant patient if advised ecosprin.
Hope these information will be helpful for you.
