Is It Really Bad To Have Adenoids Removed At A Young Age?

My son is 2 years old and needs an adenoidectomy and tubes put in his ears. The doctor mentioned that he has large tonsils and will need them out but does not want to do them now. Everyone I have talked to asked why they are not just doing it all at once and I kind of wonder the same. Is it really bad to have them removed at a young age?
