Is It Normal To Have A Period After A Gap Of 17 Months?

Hello, I am 47 years old. I went 17 months without a period. For months I had terrible hot flashes and night sweats. I started taking Ultra E Fem 3 months ago to regulate hormones and help with the flashes. the hot flashes and night sweats slowed and finally stopped. Last month I had cramps for a day or so. then Friday I started what seems like a normal period. Is this normal? Last year I had blood tests which showed no reason for me to be menopausal yet I had all the symptoms.
