Is It Necessary To Let The Doctor Know About A Previous Abortion?

When I was 17, I had an abortion. Now I am 31 and pregnant with my husband s child. I have O Negative blood and did not get a RhoGAM shot after the abortion 14 years ago. I have not told my OB about it, but so far I am 14 weeks and everything is going well. They are scheduling me for a RhoGAM shot at 28 weeks. Do I need to tell my OB about my previous abortion? I rather not as it was traumatic time in my life and I don t want it in my medical file.

Hello,

Welcome to healthcaremagic.com!

I really appreciate your concern. You should inform your doctor about your previous abortion because in case of any complication he/she can correlate it with abortion history if possible. I can understand It was your traumatic past but there is nothing to feel shy about it.

Hope my answer has solved your query. Take Care.

Thank you.

Best Regards.
