Is It Necessary To Get Vaccinated Again In Case Of Animal Bite?

Hello doctor. I had 1 tetanus shot & 3 anti rabies vaccine. my last was in june 30. This wass the recommended shot for me as suggested by the doctor. But one of my grandms's cat bit me last july 3. do i need to get vaccinated again? pls help. Thank you.

Welcome to HCM,

As you was bit by a dog previously for which your doctor has advised the shots of antirabies vaccine and a shot of tetanus injection. As you were bit by cat after a period of one month according to WHO categories you will be identified as Re-Exposures.

Re-Exposures should receive two doses of vaccine on days 0 and 3. Even it is a Cat III bite only two doses of antirabies vaccines is sufficient.

So I would suggest you to take two doses of antirabies vaccine on days 0 and 3 over the shoulder.
