Is It Due To Anxiety There Is Xyphoid Process Pain And Why?

I was wondering if anyone knew if anxiety alone could cause xyphoid process pain and why. six months ago I started to have pain in this region of my chest after suffering from so many anxiety attacks. I have not suffered any physical trauma to this area; when was 10 years old, I used to let other kids stand on my stomach at times but there was never any pain from it after 35 years. So is it possible that stress alone could cause this pain.

I have gone through your query and understand your concern.
There are many causes for Pain in Xyphoid process area.
As you suspect, it may be due to anxiety.
But some other important causes like Coronary heart disease, Angina, peptic ulcer, Gastro Esophageal Reflex Disease (GERD) to be ruled out.
In fact, anxiety may trigger the Angina, Coronary heat disease or gastric acid secretion.
Thus you need thorough medical examination and further investigations to find the exact cause.
1. Upper GI endoscopy
2. ECG
3. Ehocardiography

Depending on the cause, the treatment varies.
If it is due to Ulcer or GERD, then Proton pump inhbitors like Pantaprazole will be felpful
Try relaxation techniques like yoga and meditation.
Exercise regularly.
DO not skip meals and have proper non spicy diet.
