Is It A Matter Of Concern If A 7 Month Old Baby Is Just Drinking Breast Milk And No Solids?

Hi

My daughter will be 7 months old on 9th November. She is exclusively breast fed as she refuses to take any solids or a cup/bottle. I have tried many things but she just closes her mouth and pushes it away. She will take a couple of sucks on a teething biscuit but the moment it goes soft and some breaks off in her mouth, she spits it out. There is so much conflicting advice about iron should I be concerned about it at her age?

Hi, thanks for asking. In my opinion supplementary feeding is required for a 7 month old child as the child will not grow well on total breast feeding. You can try putting the food in semisolid state at the back of her tongue. Usually breast fed children have a habit of pushing their tongue against their palate for sucking. This leads them to push the food out of their mouths. Try putting it at the back of her tongue. You may supplement her with iron at this age.
