Hi,

I do not think that a single dose of 250 mg (Half of 500 mg tablet) of crocin will cause any particular side effect in a 2 year old child. The usual dose of crocin in children is 60 mg per kg per day in 4 divided doses. That means that each dose should be 5 mg per kg. Average weight of a 2 year child being 13-14 Kg, normal single dose would be around 200 mg.

Hence, a dose of half tablet of crocin is not in a danger zone in such cases. The symptoms of temperature, sleepiness etc., may be due to any other cause and not due to swallowing of half tablet of crocin. You should consult some pediatrician for his symptoms.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
