Is High Level Of Codeine In The Hair Test Sign Of Drug Abuse?
The mother of my child has a history of drug abuse. She has spent the last 2 years going from doctor to doctor to get prescriptions for pain killers. Her last failed hair test showed 419 ng for coedine, the cutoff was 300. She told me she had a cold in october and had a prescription for cough syrup with coedine. Is this an accurate reading for a one time cold use, or is the level too high for that? Im just wondering if shes abusing again and if my child is safe in her care.

Hair testing is positive only after 10 days of frequent drug use and not for the occasional drug user.
I suggest you to do repeat testing along with urine test for codeine
