Is Endometriosis A Genetic Disorder?

My mum has endometriosis and i was wondering if that meant i had it too? I am 16 and I started my period 5 years ago. I don t have heavy periods, they only last 4 days and i have no pain at all, but i am worried about the fact it could be hereditary. Are there other symptoms or does it suddenly appear? Please help
