Is Brown Discharge With Blood Clumps/clots Post Colposcopy Common To Occur?

Had colposcopy with 4 biopsies and ECC done 4 days ago. Up until today having been having brownish discharge with little clumps and very slight streaks of blood. This is to be expected and have only had to wear a panty liner. This morning I got up and bright red blood started dripping out along with 3 grape sized clots.. The amount of blood soaked the panty liner I was wearing in approx 5 minutes. Since the clots fell out about an hour ago the bleeding has decreased. Is this normal?

OB & GYN Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

Yes after colposcopy slight discharge is common, the clots may be due to trauma, once the bleeding controls in that area you won’t have any discharge.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. V. Nagasravani, OB & GYN Specialist
