Is A Diabetic Patient More Vulnerable Against Bruising On Knee?

I fell on my knee last Monday resulting in the usual scrape. Two days later all of calf and part of my knee are extremely bruised. Also: I am diabetic and weigh 260lbs and several other issues. My question is should I have gone to the hospital or ER when the bruising appeared and what should I look for?

Hi, welcome to our site. I am Dr Saumya Mittal.

Read your query. That is a very significant question and i appreciate your problem. I will try my best to answer your query

You see diabetics wound healing is delayed. Besides, they are more prone to infections and also the infections take longer to cure. This is a known fact.

Combing the two facts, one can easily explain why your wound have increased. I think you should meet adoc locally to make sure that the would is not getting infected, and tetanus shot if needed.

Hope your sugars are well controlled. If they have not been tested in some time, you might as well check those

I hope this helps you. Inform the reports mentioned above so i can be of help further. Best of luck.
