Irregualr, Long Periods, Cramps After Being On Coumadin Due To Pulmonary Embolisms. Suggest

hi,
I am 23 years old and was recently put on coumadin in march because of pulmonary embolisms. I have an irregular period this month. My period came Sept.4th-sept.11th, which is longer than usual. My period arrived again on sept. 21 and comes and goes. In the morning, 6 am it is a bright red and then by mid day 8 pm it is dried up and gone. There isn't look. I have really bad cramps as well. My period has never been irregular till now.

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
taking coumadin itself can cause the prolonged bleeding during the periods. You need to get the dosage of coumadin regulated after getting the coagulation profile evaluated. Taking oral hemostyptics during the periods will also help.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
