Infant Down With Fever, Diarrhea, Rash On Body That Seems To Be Warm To Touch, Been Administered With Advil. Emergency?

My 10 month old daughter has been sick and was running a fever of up to 101.3. The last few days. She has has diarrhea and will cry and scream out of the blue. She seems to have broken the fever but we noticed what looks like a large red swollen rash on the back of her thigh its about the size of my hand and a smaller patch on her other leg. It feels very warm to the touch. The only thing different we ve done was give her baby Advil last night instead of Tylenol and some pedialyte cause she hasn t been eating of drinking as much the last few days. Could it be hives or should we take her to emerg? She has had a runny nose and cough as well. We were also told to put a warm compress on her tummy when she cries hard cause she may have a stomach infection. Any ideas what it might be?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi ,
Thank you for your query.
Your child is probably suffering from a viral gastroenteritis. The rash might be due to excoriation of skin due to the acidic stool.I think you need to consult your doctor.A mild probiotic drink might take care of the diarrhoea along with some mild antiflatulent carminative drops to ease the stomach pain.A mild emollient nappy rash cream maybe tried at the area with rash. But do consult with your pediatrician. Hope this answers your query.Wishing your child a speedy recovery.Have a nice day.

Hi
Thanks for your query,
your daughter is having fever, diarrhea .runny nose and cough.all this is usually viral in nature and it will take couple of days to subside.
I advise you to give paracetamol when fever is above 100F.five plenty of fluids including oral rehydration solution sip by sip after each loose stool.,coconut water,
give lactobicillus sachet for 2 to 3 days
For rash apply calamine 2 to 3 times a day.
In case symptoms do not settle ,take her to pediatrician

Wishing your baby good health
God bless
