IBS, Ambiosis. Blood, Stool Tests Done. What Do The Reports Indicate?
Hello doctor, I am 37year old female, unmarried. My current weight is 48 and height is 4ft11in. I have been suffering from IBS and ambiosis for the past three years. I have lost almost 9 kg in the past one year I had a blood test done and a stool test done today. The results are as follows esr 75mm/h Neutrophil 45 % Lymphocytes 48 Monocytes 1 Eosinophil 6 Basophils 0
PCV 33% MCV 73 MCH 25.3 MCHC 34.5
Haemoglobin 11.4 Rbc 4.5
My stool test results are Occult blood - negative Stool for reducing substance - absent Colour is brownish Consistency semisolid Reaction acidic Mucus present Ova not found Cyst of Protozoa not found Pus cell occasional Starch n veg cell present Rbc not found Fat absent Larva not found
The interpretation of the blood report and the stoll report is as follows: 1. The hemoglobin is slightly lower. For a healthy adult 12 gm% or above is the normal hemoglobin. The MCV and MCH is also below normal. Low MCV and MCH suggest decreased size of RBCs and low hemoglobin concentration in the RBCs. These findings are commonly seen in iron deficiency anemia.
The stool examination are also within normal limits. There is no evidence of infection by any parasite, or protozoa (especially amoeba) Presence of occasional pus cells (white blood cells) suggest presence of mild infection but it is not of any consequence.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
