I Had A Vaginal Songram And Noticed The Sac Elongated. What Should I Do?
Hello! My name is Rachel Santos. I went to the OB the other day & he did a vaginal songram. He noticed that the sac was elongated as in a shape of a kidney bean. The yolk sac was round but was concerned about the elongated shaped sac? He said that I could possibly miscarriage that this pregnancy may not be iable. i am due to come back into the office on Monday for another vaginal sonogram
Hi Rachel, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Gestational sac is usually round in shape in early pregnancy. Elongated gestational sac can be an indication of impending abortion or a non viable pregnancy, especially when the fetal node is not visible in a transvaginal ultrasound by 5-6 weeks of pregnancy. Your OBGYN specialist is right in suggesting you to get a repeat ultrasound after few days( preferably 2 weeks) to see the further development of the gestational sac and the fetus, and further management should be done accordingly. Hope you found the answer helpful. Wishing you good health. Regards, Dr Deepti verma
