Opioids have mode elevating effects besides its pain relief effect. For this reason, it has the potential to be abused, and people do get addicted to it. However, getting rid of it is not impossible.
You just need to gradually taper off rather then stopping it off .we recommend reducing dose by one fourth to every two weeks or even more if you feel withdrawal effects.
You may feel some withdrawal effects for which you may use symptomatic treatment; like if you feel the pain you may use Paracetamol, if you feel itching, you may take antihistaminic.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
