Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As you are having a fever for last 20 days it may be a fever of unknown origin (FUO) which should be thoroughly evaluated to find out the causes of a fever. All the relevant investigations should be done to rule out the cause of fever.

As your health care provider has prescribed paracetamol to reduce the fever, this drug will act for 6 hours and it will control the fever for this duration but it cannot cure the condition. The source of infection should be found out by the investigations.

To confirm it is typhoid, after having a fever for last 20 days you should undergo stool and urine culture to confirm it. There are many conditions which can lead to fever of more than 1 month which should be evaluated thoroughly.

Medications also must be taken for complete course and in typhoid it is often given for 14 days.

You may take adequate amounts of water and fresh fruit juices.

As typhoid leaves you very weak, taking rest for a while is advised. Typhoid recovery is not the same for every person who gets it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Praveen G
