Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of swallowing difficulty which could be due to swelling of salivary gland, salivary stone at base of tongue mainly submandibular gland and it could be due to leftover chronic upper respiratory tract infection , infection of tonsils or lack of saliva in mouth.

You should avoid intake of cold carbonated beverages. Avoid intake of sharp spicy food and prefer liquid diet . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination. Doctor may order blood test , throat swab test along with other test .

Doctor may prescribe antibiotics such as amoxicillin and penicillin at least for 10 days along with vitamin supplements to boost the immunity or recommend tonsillectomy . Maintain oral hygiene. Drink plenty of water. Doctor may also refer you to oral pathologist.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
