How To Treat Pneumonia Along With Chronic Ear Infection In A 3 Years Old Child?

My son was just diagnosed w/ pneumonia (just turned 3) and has chronic ear infections. I ve had a cough since before New Yrs and swollen tonsils. I have chronic sinus infections but nose is relatively clear. I do have a rattle if I take a deep breath. .. .also am hacking up mucus. . . work in Microbiology and did gram stain on a nice green one and didn t see anything. Son s ped said his issue is way down in a lower lobe. . . should I be concerned of same thing for me?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks and welcome to HCM .
From your narration I understand that your son is suffering from lower lobe Pneumonia.
He needs intensive treatment under the guidance of a pediatrician .
Sometimes he may need admission into a hospital .
Chronic ear infection and sinusitis may lead to pneumonia again unless these infections are cleared completely.
Other family members also may be infected unless they take care.
Preventive vaccine may be given to contacts.
Hope this reply is OK for you.
Further queries invited .
