Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Bronchitis is not always due to infection.
It can also cause by allergy, pollution, chemical exposure at work place, exposure of cigarette smoke due to passive smoking etc.
So antibiotics are not always needed.
In my opinion, you should first get done PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
This will tell you about severity of the disease.
And treatment of bronchitis is based on severity only. You may need inhaled bronchodilators and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS).
Avoidance of pollution, chemical exposure at workplace etc are needed for proper control.
Also get done adult Pulmonary vaccination with pneumococcal and Influenza vaccines. This will protect you from recurrent respiratory infection and thus bronchitis.
So discuss all these with your doctor and start appropriate treatment.
Hope I have solved your query.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
