How To Remove Swollen Lymph Nodes On Right Side Of Neck?
Hi How are you? My query relates to my 3 year old son who has had a swollen lymph nodes on the right side of his neck just below his ear for over 12 months.... he has had a fine needle aspiration done and results came back with nothing abnormal... this was 8 months ago now... and the node is still quite enlarged and does go up and down... which I suppose is a reactive node? can you suggest why this hasn t gone completely?

Lymphnode usually get painful and swollen due to surrounding infection but since in FNAC nothing has came no its not a matter of worry. Sometime reactive lymphnode remain enlarged but just be careful if get painful. Be it be the way it is because only treatment of enlarged lymphnode if not treated by medication is surgery but since its not causing any symptoms and report are negative then not to worry.just keep a watch on it.

Actually as you are mentioning that your son has a swollen lymph node which is mobile , there is nothing to worry, as sometimes slight throat infections also leads to these kind of swellings of lymph node and in children it is very common.
And even in fine needle cytology also it appeared to be normal, so do not take tension about it, but if it starts growing in size or become fixed or hard then you have to go for investigations again, till then there is nothing to worry.
