How To Remove A Plastic Wrapper Stuck In The Throat?

Hi, My son was eating a jolly rancher and got a small piece of the plastic wrapper stuck in his throat. He said that he can feel that something is there but when he coughs it won t come up. I had him eat bread, gargle and drink water still not helped. Is there anything that can be done?

Otolaryngologist / ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

This needs to be further investigated by ENT doctor as they would use a flexible endoscope to view the pharynx and larynx to see if there is any foreign body or a damage caused by it. If the doctor finds one, he could remove it at the same time and your child should be good to go. I suggest making an early appointment with ENT surgeon for this.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
