Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
First question :- how can a parents know that the Doctor he giving a painless vaccination to the child or not?Probability in India is that sometimes they give normal vaccination n they tell that it is Painless n charge heavily....................Second question : For the last 3 vaccination I had been giving my daughter painless....but now can i change to the normal one.
Let me first correct your misconception about painless vaccination. No injectable vaccination is painless as one does get a pain will giving an injection.
Earlier DPT vaccine contained the whole cell pertussis (DwPT) which gave rise to fever. However now acellular pertussis DaPT is available which does not give a severe reaction though some children do develop fever due to it; this incidence is very low compared to DwPT. You can always ask the doctor to show you whether he is giving the child DaPT or DwPT and you can pay him accordingly.
If you have given three doses of vaccine (which I presume are DaPT) then you daughter will require the booster at 1.5 year of age and not now. You can certainly give her DwPT if you so desire.
I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.
