How To Heal Fall Related Knee Injury With Bruise And Swelling Along With Numbness In Right Heel?

I fell, landing sqarely on my right knee 2 weeks ago. The knee buised and swelled a little. The next day I began having numbness to part of my right heel, also for about the last week I have had alot of pain and swelling in my right ankle, making it difficult to walk. Are all of these problems related? Is it possible to sprain an ankle and not know it right away? I have been doing high intensity interval training post fall 2 weeks ago...

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

I have studied your case.

You may need MRI to see ligament injury.
I will advise to
Rest the part and avoid any movements that produce pain.
Apply ice or a cold pack to the painful area for 15 to 20 minutes, 4 times a day for several days. Wrap the ice or cold pack in a towel.
Till time you can take anti-inflammatory and antibiotic if infection is suspected.

If swelling and bruise is not reducing and giving pain while I will advise you to further investigate
I will advise you to do MRI and Ultrasound of ankle if required on clinical examination.
Partial tear can be managed conservatively with physiotherapy with USG and TENS.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care.
