How To Deal With Painful Constipation And Bowel Movements In An Infant?
Hi, my 4 month old daughter has been suffering from constipation for the past few weeks and screams when she is having a bowel movement. Her stools are frequent but hard and last week what looks like a skin tag has appeared on her anus. What can I do to treat her? I am already giving her cooled boiled water in between formula feeds however she keeps pushing the bottle away. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Hi, Thank you for asking question on health care magic. when the baby is passing more than 4 motions per day it is not constipation. Hard stools occur because of formula feeds. Colimex -DF drops relieve her from pain and suffering. Breastfed babies pass loose stools. If breast feeding is not possible at least animal milk is better, Undiluted cow's milk can be safely given. Finally if nothing is possible you may try Lactulose syrup, Hope this answer will serve your purpose Please feel free to ask any more queries if required Take care Dr.M.V.Subrahmanyam MD;DCH Associate professor of pediatrics
