How To Cure Surgical Wound?

My son had a wart surgically removed 10 days ago. He has a centimeter in diameter circle (well, divot) on his knee and it is still raw. We are putting polysporin on in daily and keeping it covered with a bandaid but it doesn't appear to be healing and today, it started to bleed. He is very active and has banged his knee a few times. Could this be the problem?

Hi.
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain it seems there is non healing of the wound or there is delayed healing and as you have indicated that he has banged his knee many a times there is a possibility that due to recurring trauma there has been injury to the newly forming tissues leading to inflammation and delayed healing..
He should be given a short course of antibiotics like Ciprofloxacin, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, clean the area with antiseptic solution and apply a triple antibiotic ointment over it..
You can also apply a steroid ointment over it..
Avoid water exposure to the area..
In case if there is still no improvement in one week consult a general surgeon and get evaluated..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
