How To Control Cholesterol?

My hdl cholesterol results are 48 and my LDL cholesterol is 81 and ct/hdl cardiac ratio is 3.0. I working on my bmi since I'm scoring a 32 to lose weigh will that off set with eating right and exercising to lose weight. Should I be concern? I'm 43 years old and femail

Thanks for asking to HCM.According to me,you need not be much worried about your overweight now as your cholesterol levels are within normal limits.But losing weight helps future derangement of your lipid profile especially after 45 yrs when the cardiovascular risks are increased.I suggest my patients to first try lifestyle modifications for 2-3 months (like balanced diet,Daily exercises,avoid smoking,avoid daytime sleep etc).If it not works,then medical treatment with Fibrate class of drugs,orlistat,Statins(to lower LDL cholesterol) etc is usually tried.Hope this information helps you.Take care.
