How Safe Is Taking Levothyroxin For TSH Level Of 37?

I was diagnosed with a primary hypothyroid last september with a TSH level of 37. They statred me on 50 mg of Levothyroxin. In March, my TSH level was 21 and they raised the levothyroxin to 150. The scan showed a multinodular gland. My mum has a history of Yoyo between Basedow and Hashimoto. My dad had a bone cancer and both his brother had their thyroid removed because of cancerous cells. My symptoms have improved but I put 9 kgs on which I can't get rid of. I did more blood test last week. My TSH is down to 0.3 and Free T4 level is 15.3 ; They also checked my liver function ALT 15 iu, Alk Phos 63 iu, serum total bilirubin level 9 umol, serum albumin 46 g. My question is, although my TSH is back to normal, is my liver producing T3 normally ?. And Am I OK ? Thank you for your time. Stéphanie

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question.
I can understand your concern.

You had hypothyroidism and your TSH level was very high. So you started levothyroxine and increased the dosage of levothyroxine leads to drug induced hyperthyroidism. So your TSH level is reduced and free T4 level is high. You should consult your doctor and set the dosage of levothyroxine.

You should go for thyroid FNAC once to rule out malignancy. Multinodular goiter can leads to malignancy so surgery is preferred in multinodular goitre. Consult your doctor and plan accordingly.

Hope I have answered your question.
If you have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer.
