How Long Will It Take For The Colles' Fracture To Heal?

How long will it take for the collee's fracture to heal? And is there any special nutrition I need to take to help the healing of the fracture. I am almost 71 years old and possibly may have a little osteoporosis. This fracture took place a week ago and am in a fiberglass cast at the moment.

Hi
Thanks for writing
It usually takes 4-6 weeks for union in cast depending on fracture pattern and another 4-6 weeks for rehabilitation that is exercises, physiotherapist help and so on.
Take balanced diet rich in calcium (1000mg/day) and vitamin D (1000 i.u. /day) along with vitaminB12, B6.Vitamin D is available in weekly dose pattern as well as injection, just talk to your local doctor.
Hope this information helps you.
Take care and I shall be glad to answer any further query.
