How Long Do Retracted Ear After Flight Travel Last?
Hello, last Friday while on vacation in Sydney I picked up a sinus infection. I flew home on Saturday and was quite sick on the plane, when the plane landed I noticed that my ears hadn t popped. Its now Thursday and i ve been to the doctor and was prescribed apo-amoxycillin for the infection and told that I had retracted eardrums. What is the time frame on this and when can I expect to be able to hear properly again?
It takes a few days to few weeks depending upon the type of treatment you take, diagnosis, weather conditions and so on. Hence, I would advise you the following: * Consult an ENT Surgeon for detailed evaluation, ENT Endoscopy and relevant further investigations * Continue Amoxicillin * Needs oral and nasal decongestants * Anti-inflammatory medicines * Oral steroid if you are not diabetic
This is the mainstay of treatment in retracted eardrums.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
