How Is Fistula In The Omphalomesenteric Duct Treated?
hi! my daughter is 8 wks old and has been haveing yellow drainage coming out of her umbilical hernia. we thought is was urine but after a recent mri it showed a small bowel fistula (omphalomesenteric duct). what do they do for that and what is done during surgery? thanks!
Thank you for approaching HCG,I understand your concern.
Omphalomesentric fistula is a birth defect,in which there will be failure in normal growth pattern and there is abnormal connection between intestine and skin of the abdomen. This could be due to genetic. It has be cured by surgery . In the surgery they will disconnect the opening between intestine and skin by sutures. After surgery it will be absolutely fine.you will not have any problems in the future. Consult a pediatric surgeon and get surgery done as soon as possible. Hope this will help you. Thank you.
