Hi & Welcome.
Remeron (Mirtazapine) is an atypical antidepressant that works by restoring the balance of
neurotransmitters like nor-adrenaline & serotonin in the brain.
It is also called as nor-adrenergic and serotonergic antidepressant (NaSA) used in the treatment of
major depressive disorder as it improves mood and feelings of well-being. it is also used in the treatment of
generalized anxiety disorder,
obsessive-compulsive disorder and other conditions.
Its most common side effects include excessive drowsiness or sleepiness, dizziness, increased appetite and weight gain, dry mouth, and constipation.
It may cause a discontinuation syndrome upon cessation which is characterized by depression, anxiety, panic attacks, vertigo,
restlessness, irritability, decreased appetite, insomnia, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, flu-like symptoms such as allergies and itching, headaches and sometimes hypomania or mania.
If you want to stop taking it a gradual and slow reduction in dose is recommended to minimize discontinuation symptoms.
