Hi there, I had a massive PE in 2000 and my surgeon wants to perform a knee osteotomy. Am I at a greater risk of PE?

Hi Kathy,
Welcome to HCM.
Any surgery which involves prolonged bed rest can give rise to Pulmonary Embolism. Since you have a past history of PE, you are certainly at a higher risk than general population of having PE.
Usually PE is a sequele to deep vein thrombosis, wherein a thrombus dislodges from the vein and gets stuck in the main lung artery.
